To draw with light is a Greek phrase that translates the French word photography. Photography is an ancient form of art, and not of the modern era. For photography to take place light must be available. A sensor collects light in a photograph and this is what is referred to as exposure. Washed out pictures will be achieved following too much exposure to light. Photos which exhibit darkness must have had a short exposure. Exposure is measured using the light meter that is inbuilt in cameras thanks to new technology. Lessons on manual exposure control must be taken to rid the photographer of over reliance on the light meter.
Inbuilt in a camera are a shutter speed and aperture. An aperture is a lens which is a small opening that allows light into a camera. Exposure to light is measured with time and this is referred to as the shutter speed. Increasing or decreasing the speed of light changes the sensitivity of the sensor which is also known as the ISO. How good a photo is lies on how light is used. The angle of light used in a photo will determine the effects. Light as the heart of photography is used to lighten dark backgrounds, create silhouettes and depth. Manipulation of the angle of light will give photo effects such as lights in motion and moonlight making them stand out.
As digital portrait photography is sensitive, skills need be applied to ensure that quality photos are captured. Without having attention on the camera, the subject is captured at their most natural. The best portraits are those with a natural flair. Contrast in portrait photography is created by darkening and brightening some areas. Features that are brought about in black and white photography are outstanding. Creativity and an eye for perfection will bring out photo compositions that are awesome.
