Can Draught Excluders Really Help Save the Planet?

The often taken for granted draught excluder is getting some fabulous press these days. Rarely have there been more compelling reasons to save on energy, and save some money in the process. The huge rise in repossessions of home furniture, and in many cases the homes themselves, since the financial banking crisis laid waste to the economy, are a grim indication that we are still struggling in the shadow of recession, and no one knows for sure whether the future will bring better times or worse.

Wide spread redundancies and the resulting rise in unemployment have left many short of cash, and many are concerned about their future job security. With impeccable timing energy prices have risen during what for many has been the coldest winter on record, and for some heating bills have become unmanageable. No better time to invest in a decent draught excluder then, as to endure the invasion of cold air into your home knowing that the costly heat is at the same time escaping is surely too much to bear.

Aside from financial factors, reducing energy use has become a hot environmental topic, and we are all now advised to understand and reduce our personal carbon emissions individually. Choosing to recycle is of course a great start, and these days something most people are happy to do, but what about inefficiencies in the home that could be wasting energy day after day, month after month, year after year?

Fitting a good draught excluder really can save you a bundle of cash over the years, something no one is likely to say no to. They are fairly easy to install and do not cost the earth. In fact they help to do the exact opposite. If every poorly insulated home were fitted with draught excluders tomorrow it might not save the planet but it would definitely be a good start.
