There are different ways to successfully manage the symptoms of kennel cough. Kennel cough is not being considered as a serious health concern in dogs. Due to this fact, the signs and symptoms of kennel cough can be easily treated right at home either by use of natural remedies or by use of over-the-counter medications. Although, it is always advisable to consult with the veterinarian so as to help you to get more information about your pet’s condition. Making an appointment with the vet may be deemed necessary for you to know about the right course of medication that needs to be followed.

The following are the most common and best kennel cough treatments in dogs:

1.	The first line of treatment when dealing with kennel cough is administering antibiotic drugs since the ailment is mostly brought about by viral and bacterial infections. The right dosage of antibiotics is based according to the weight and age of your pet. The vet should prescribe you the right type of drug that you should give your dog so do not just purchase any type from the drugstore.

2.	To allow your dog to recover faster, you can give it Vit. C supplements. Just as like in humans, this vital nutrient can aid largely in relieving lung and nasal issues like colds and coughs. Vit. C is also known to be the best anti-infection agent as it can combat almost all types of infectious diseases in the body, specifically the ones causing kennel cough.

3.	In order to prevent your dog from recurring kennel cough, the vet may give it an intranasal vaccine. This procedure is considered to be as one of the best ways in keeping kennel cough attacks from happening again. It will also aid in strengthening your dog’s immune system to fight off future diseases.

4.	Another cure for kennel cough is through a process called inoculation wherein a dog is given a serum shot to strengthen its immune system. In this manner, the disease-combating living cells will be able to naturally clear all the infections away.

Study after study shows that having a dog in your life can make you happier, healthier and you may even live longer. Dogs can bring unrequited joy into anyone’s life, but even the biggest dog lover hates the chronic bad breath that most dogs suffer from. An entire cottage industry has sprung up in recent years with vets, dog care specialists and just concerned dog owners selling secret potions to help cure man’s best friend of their bad breath problem. Is there a cure for a dog’s bad breath? Possibly, but you won’t find it in a pill or a formula. It is a process that you must go through with several steps. Let’s take a look at some of these steps now.

The first stop on the road to a cure for dog bad breath is tooth care. If you have an elderly dog that has worse breath than most other dogs, it is likely because of advanced tooth decay. The goal of every dog owner should be to keep your pet’s mouth healthy for as long as possible. Dogs that have lost some or all of their teeth tend to lead miserable lives and they almost always suffer from terrible breath. The next time you take your dog to the vet, ask about steps you can take to keep his or her mouth clean and healthy. Most vets offer a teeth cleaning service, but it can often be expensive. You may be able to brush your own dog’s mouth depending on the size and temperament of your dog. Ask your vet if they sell the instruments you would need to keep your dog’s mouth clean at home.

Now that you’ve got a handle on your dog’s dental health, it is time to start thinking about small adjustments you can make in diet to help with chronic bad breath. Many pet owners who only feed their dog wet food say that their dog has the worst breath. This is because the chewing action of dry food helps to stimulate saliva in your dog’s mouth and this helps to keep odor causing plaque to a minimum. The same is true of dog treats and even dog bones. There is a reason why the people at MilkBone claim that their treats help to clean your dog’s mouth. Don’t overload your dog with treats as this can lead to obesity, but an occasional one is excellent for your dog’s morale and for his mouth.

You can take dog treats even further by looking for ones that contain mint and other natural ingredients. It is like giving your dog a breath mint in dog treat form. There are many online pet stores that sell breath-specific dog treats as a cure for dog bad breath and even cat bad breath.

As you can see, by taking a comprehensive approach to your dog’s oral care, dog bad breath can be a thing of the past, or at the very least, controlled so that it doesn’t offend anyone. It’s up to you to take the first step.

I have a couple of dogs one of which is a poodle and the others are great danes. Needless to say that I have a hard time keeping the floor clean. The poodle can’t really hold it for very long and the great danes, well when they have a problem, you don’t really want to know.

My dogs are of the spoiled variety and I would not ever consider leaving them outside while I am gone, so my options are limited. They can stay inside or they can stay inside. Either way if I am gone for awhile chances are very high that I will have something to clean up when I get home. This drives me nuts and until they come out with an actual vapoorize product I fear that it may continue.

The only real solution aside from timing food and water intake which is not always practical is a dog mat. This may strike some of you as gross but I find it to be the lesser of the evils and when options are limited we are left to make tough decisions. I would rather have a mat I can take outside and hose off as opposed to a floor I have to shovel and mop, remember we are talking great danes here.

Dog mats normally come in different sizes and have some type of fake astroturf like grass on top, that is permeable and allows the urine to run through. Below there is a mat that holds a fairly sizable amount of water. Again these mats come in all different sizes. The poodle mat would not work for the great danes.

Until I can teach the dogs to use the toilet the doggie mat is about the only option. It makes life easier for everyone and removes the stress from coming home and knowing there will be a problem. Having a well trained dog is partly a function of how well you set your home up to be dog proof and how often you are able to praise and punish your dog. If your home is not dog friendly and you are constantly punishing your dog is it really the dogs fault?

Getting the danes trained to use the mat was a bit of a challenge but once they understand what it is for they usually follow through.

Let’s say that you have made the decision to get that puppy you have been wanting for a long time. You had a dog growing up, you’ve always liked having one around, and now it’s time to bring one into your home. Maybe everyone in the family is not as thrilled about having a pet that must be fed, watered, walked and cleaned up after every day. Maybe you have children that are shy around dogs.

You could find at least 365 blog posts on the Internet that offer advice to make your dog fit in quickly with your family. This article is going to focus on one and that is to take your family, especially your children, shopping for a dog treat jar to place in view of the family, probably right there in the kitchen next to the cookie, sugar, or spice jars. People attach meaning to their objects and a dog treat jar indicates that your dog is a member of the family, this is where his favorite treats are kept, this is where we reach in everyday and see it start to wag its tail in anticipation and happiness of what it is about to receive.

Now of course, the dog could care less about the treat jar. It only knows that when a human in the house reaches into it, something to eat is a moment away. The dog treat jar is for the people in the house, especially those that did not want the dog in the first place. Encouraging that shy child to get a treat from the jar for your dog helps him or her to start breaking down the barriers of interacting with the dog – the child has “something to do” for the pet. Maybe your reluctant spouse will start to associate that jar, now sitting alongside the other jars in the kitchen, with an addition to the family that is here to stay.

The dog treat jar welcomes your pet by helping the other, more reluctant members of your family to welcome your pet. Use it with other techniques you research to make your new addition to the family a fun and rewarding one.
