Christmas Dinnerware Inspires Christmas Joy

Let’s face it. Far too many people don’t understand how to make the Christmas holidays meaningful. They shop too much. They let the stress of others get to them. They grow cynical and tired.

They forget the healing properties of Christmas dinnerware.

Or – to put it a bit more accurately – they forget the symbolic value of holiday dinnerware. Because we aren’t simply talking about salad plates and soup bowls, stemware and polished silver.

We’re talking about Christmas dinner spreads right out of a Charles Dickens novel. We’re talking about family and friends coming together to share a few hours of good wine and egg nog, great food, and even better conversation.

If that doesn’t look like Christmas to you, then what else possibly could?

And yes – it all start with the right set of holiday dinnerware. Why? For a few reasons. In the first place, as anyone who has ever invested in – or been blessed with a gift of – a Pfaltzgraff or Lenox dinner set knows, that kind of quality tableware just begs for an elegant party.

That’s not to say that it can’t serve a quiet or intimate gathering. Not at all. But it’s the sort of stuff that you want to show off.

And more than that – you want to show it off in the right light. You’re not going to put a frozen pizza on it. You’re not going to make a franks-and-beans casserole (well, okay – if you have some five year olds who call it their favorite dish you might). You’re going to spend a good part of the day cooking.

In other words, you are going to pay a lot of attention to the dinner. And when you do, you’re naturally going to end up paying more attention to the drinks, maybe even the place settings. Before you know it, you’re lighting green and red candles in a decorative holly and ivy wreath, while Bing Crosby croons “White Christmas” in the background.

When you do these things, you are celebrating the Christmas holiday the way it was meant to be celebrated. You are with loved ones, you are nurturing them with food and kindness, and you are making your home and elegant, joy-filled place.

And yes – it can all begin with a fine set of Christmas dinnerware.
