The definition of proxy is “to refer to someone or something that acts on the behalf of something or someone else”, and a proxy browser does just that. When browsing with a proxy, you won’t have to worry about being traced or endangering your security.

For example, if you’re using a proxy service, when you access a website, it will not connect you to the URL of the website. Instead, it will connect you to your proxy server, and the server will in turn connect to the website for you.

In some ways, a proxy server acts as a sort of barrier or firewall for you, making you as the user invisible as everything is tracked back to the proxy server. If you want to access a web page, the proxy service will do it for you and the forward it back to you.

Proxy browsers can also be used to either block or unblock certain websites. If there regional restrictions on a certain website, a proxy service would probably be able to get around that. It is also useful for speeding up access to websites by using caching. The cached web pages are stored on the server.

There are many free proxy browsers and services available. Some of the most powerful proxy services don’t come in the form of browsers, instead they are web services. Open proxies can be dangerous as they can accidentally leave information accessible on the Internet. Some are even operated by malicious individuals, other are used by hackers in order to break into other computers.

Socksify is a great choice for a proxy service. They provide you with safe authentication as well as a application layer firewall. It enables you to surf anonymously, hiding your IP address making you basically untraceable. And it can also be used for unblocking censored software.
