A plain and painted interior door is a common sight to see but there are other choices available. Interior doors can be crafted out of beautiful hardwood in various different colors and types. You can have your new hardwood door made from oak, pine, maple, hemlock, and alder to mention but a few. Each type of wood has a different type of grain pattern and every piece is unique. When used in larger sections such as doors the grain pattern really comes out.

The grain on oak doors for example is very light in tone when in an unfinished state. When varnish is applied the grain is really exposed to show off the beauty of the timber. For this reason oak is a very popular choice for doors and especially furniture. By adding a light stain can make the grain stand out even more than with a standard clear varnish.

Once you have chosen the type of wood for your new door there are infinite possibilities beyond the type of wood that can make the door unique in style. Raised and fielded panels can be used in the design. There are many off the shelf door patterns available on the market for you to choose from really for installation, however it is also possible to design your own door style and have it custom made. There are many manufacturers out there that will make any type of door exactly to your specification in any wood of your choice. Having a custom made door on the front of your home will make it stand out from the rest.

Wood is probably the most common type of material used in the manufacture of doors. It’s a natural material, easily shaped to specific pattern or style and very hard wearing and defiantly an excellent choice whether it be for internal or externally use.
