Indoor Vs Outdoor Tanning Lotion

There is a difference between indoor and outdoor tanning lotion that is important for any regular tanner to understand. Generally, even discount indoor tanning lotions are better than outdoor lotion when it comes to tanning in a tanning bed or booth. The bottom line is that outdoor tanning lotion should not be used in a tanning booth unless it states on the label that it can be used both indoors and out, or you somehow know for certain that it is okay. Do not assume anything and ruin the tanning salons equipment by using the wrong lotion. Ask the person working there if your lotion will damage the beds if you have any doubts.

All tanning lotion contains ingredients formulated to enhance the tanning experience and the results. The only difference is that outdoor lotion is free to use whatever minerals and oils that might best produce these results. Indoor lotion is more restricted since some of these ingredients are known to erode the acrylic sheets that make up the inside of the tanning booths. Using the wrong lotion will damage these tanning beds. But the good news is that if you are a regular indoor tanner, most lotions from the cheapest to the best indoor tanning lotions can be used outdoors.

It is just important that the tanner be aware of the intensity levels of either the sun or the tanning bed depending on what is being used, and prepare themselves appropriately to avoid any damage to their skin. The harmful effects of excessive UV radiation has been well documented through the years and it is very important that anyone who will be exposing themselves to take the necessary precautions. It is important to know that tanning lotion usually do not offer UV protection and in fact have ingredients that amplify the effects of UV rays.
