Grow lights are electric lamps designed to emit an electromagnetic spectrum. This electromagnetic spectrum simulates similar light from the sun, allowing indoor plants to get enough solar energy to create photosynthesis. This allows indoor plants to grow like outdoor plants. There are several types of grow lights, some of them are: Incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, and LED’s.

Incandescent lamps have a red or yellow light tone, and a low color temperature, around 2700 K. The incandescent lamps have an average lifespan of seven-hundred and fifty hours. They also tend to be less energy efficient than the fluorescent lamps and high intensity discharge lamps, because they use most of their energy as heat instead of light.

Fluorescent lamps can last up to twenty thousand hours. These lamps are usually used to grow vegetables like: lettuce, spinach, and herbs. Many fluorescent lights are extremely thin. This makes them useful in small spaces.

LED lights are generally cheap, although they are usually bright, and long lasting. The top LED grow lights produce wavelengths of light that correspond to chlorophyll’s absorption peak. Since these grow lamps do not consume much power, don’t require ballasts, and produce a fraction of the heat that HID lamps produce they are commonly used for indoor plant growing. Since there are four chlorophyll peaks of absorption, the top LED grow lights types use four different LED lights to hit all four peaks, they use, two red, and two blue.

Grow lights, no matter what kind are used for rowing plants that are indoors. Plants which would usually be grown outdoors. These plants could be grown for any purpose: food production, plant propagation, and even aquatic plants. Most grow lights are for industrial use, but there are some that are for domestic use.

Grow lights are very useful. They are often used in places where it is too cold to grow plants outdoors.
