Reducing the Cost of Electrolysis Services

Hair electrolysis is an expensive procedure for a number of reasons. Firstly, it requires that those providing electrolysis services must undergo thorough and specialized training (and thank goodness for that). Also, salons and clinics offering the treatment must be licensed and insured too and of course, they need to invest in equipment. None of this comes cheap.

Although individual sessions of electrolysis are not so very expensive, perhaps $20 to $30, you do need a lot of short sessions so costs can mount up. A typical session to treat a mustache area will take only fifteen minutes but you will need sessions weekly for a few months and then potentially monthly for up to a year to get rid of every hair permanently. That’s because hairs will only be killed if the probe which is inserted into the hair follicle reaches the right spot and the hair is in its growth phase. If you try and treat an area larger than your face, costs become prohibitive and you may be better looking at laser hair removal treatment instead.

To reduce costs, you can shop around a little but do not compromise on treatment quality as you want to feel confident that all is well when you visit the salon. It is just that a few dollars saved in each session can become a substantial amount over the course of your treatment.

If you have so much obvious unwanted hair, that it is affecting you psychologically you may get help with treatment costs from your medical insurance company but this is quite unusual and usually you will have to foot the bill yourself.

Costs are affected by the location of the salon as in some areas electrolysis is cheaper than in others but by the time you take traveling costs of frequent visits into account it is not worth going too far to save a few dollars.

One way you may be tempted to save money is by using a home electrolysis system. These systems claim to work but there are not many which are successful so always read reviews from genuine buyers before purchasing. While these systems are not recommended above professional electrolysis treatment, they can be a godsend to those who just can’t afford to go to a salon as long as you have the patience to learn the necessary skills and carry out the treatment.
