Suppose that you and a group of friends had traveled down to Spain and up through France, so that you could all get to England. Upon your arrival in London, you might have a peculiar way of viewing the best self catering accommodations in the UK. You might not want to seek out some log cabins, even if they are all luxury log cabins.

You might like the idea of staying at a log cabin that has hot tubs, but you might not want to spend time and money going after that sort of lodging. You would appreciate having access to well equipped kitchens, or at least one decent kitchen. You would hope to get a place with electric lights, maybe even one with LED lighting.

Most of all, you would hope to find something that could substitute for the absence of family and home comforts. The ideal spot might be a small boarding facility owned by an old family friend, a friend who is ready to welcome you and your friends. Maybe he is someone who is still adjusting to life in the United Kingdom. Maybe he used to reside in the country that you call ‘home’.

That is just the sort of spot that one group of youth discovered about five years ago. They spent several days in accommodations where they were non paying guests. At least they did not have to pay any money. Instead they helped the host to recall the fun times that he had once had, while living in a large North American city.

Now those same accommodations remain available to the father and mother of the young man that toured parts of Europe in the summer of 2005. A stay there would provide that couple with an opportunity to see a special London landmark, the tomb of a man called “the Guardian of the Faith.”
