If you are like most people, you’ve often spent some time wondering how you are going to shove the groceries that you just purchased into your already-stuffed refrigerator.  When this situation arises, you have two basic choices:  Either you can clean out your fridge and consolidate or get rid of older items, or you can buy another one.  It comes as no surprise that many households take the latter route and get another refrigerator.  Few people want to put two bulky appliances in their kitchen, so they locate it in the garage or storage room.

Mini FreezerRegarding the cost advantages of having a secondary freezer, there are a few variables.  First, if you get a full sized, large unit, it will use a considerable amount of electricity.  If you don’t need all that room, I recommend getting a smaller version.  You can find mini freezers for sale either online or at large appliance stores.  Many people need extra freezer space, since refrigerated items tend to get consumed quicker.  Frozen foods usually sit in the freezer for weeks or months before getting eaten.  While there are a plethora of mini refrigerators available, there really aren’t too many that only have freezers.  They do exist though, and come in both the upright and chest varieties.

The real cost savings comes when you can purchase fruits and vegetables at cheap prices in season, and then freeze it for later use.  Things like berries, watermelons, and other fruits are always way cheaper in season than out.  With a secondary mini freezer, you can take advantage of this and not be burned by high produce prices in the winter.  Another advantage is that locally grown goods are fresher and healthier than those grown halfway around the world.
