Votive candles are a great addition to any party and they work very well as table decorations. Not only do they provide light for the table, but they can be mixed and matched with different kinds of holders to change the type of lighting desired. Clear holders will allow the full strength light from the flame to shine out. Red, green, blue or any other color will add a muted colored light to the occasion. Holders come in clear glass and can also be found in frosted or opaque glass so the type of light desired for the occasion can be focused or changed depending on the type of holder the votive candle is placed inside. Muted or softer light might be better for formal dinners, where all of the attention is on the head table and brighter, clearer light may be desired when the candles are more of a light source for the room.

Unscented votive candles are probably the best choice for table decorations where the emphasis is on the food being served. A scented candle may overpower the food and not all people will find the same fragrance pleasing. It’s possible that a scented candle could be found to please everyone, but care would need to be taken to make sure the candle was a lightly scented candle and not a triple-strength candle. Heavily scented candles are best at loud parties or outdoor events where the scent won’t trap any guests who find it offensive.

Votive candles are a versatile to decorate for any event and they can be used scented or unscented or any other way you would like. Colored candles or colored holders the choices are almost endless and matching or at least complementing anyone’s color scheme is possible with a little ingenuity and good eye for color. Remember votive candles for your next party.
