Smells connect us to memories of times gone by and places and people we still miss. We make every effort to fill our lives and homes with those memories but sometimes a single bad odor can break the magic we weave. Most of these odors enter our house through faults in the network of pipes and drains, which only plumbers in Milwaukee can correct.
But before you call such services, it is better to understand the main reasons and culprits for the stench. Knowing it will help us remedy some of these on our own. For others we would be clearer with the explanation of the problem.
The biggest culprit is the food that gets stuck in the disposer, clogs it and rots there. Fibrous food like banana peels do not get disposed completely and it is best not to put such items in the sink. But this stink is the easiest to handle and all you need is a few ice cubes and lemon or orange rind. Run the unit with these, then add some dishwasher liquid and finely let cold water flow through the system. All this requires just a few minutes and no outside help.
Second culprit is the unused trap, whether in the bathroom or the sink. These contain water to seal out foul smells but if not used regularly, the water evaporates, allowing the smells to enter the house. Just put a bucket of water in all such traps on a regular basis to remedy this problem.
Third is the toilet, which can sometimes smell real bad on flushing. Every time you flush the air is pushed out into a vent which opens towards the roof and the water is pushed down into the sewer. If the seal that holds the bowl to the floor is loose, the stale air gets pushed out into the toilet. This needs professional hand for sealing the bowl again.
In case of any other odor or water backing up into sinks or drains, be sure that there is some clogging in the lines somewhere. For these you need to call plumbers in Milwaukee for inspecting the lines and removing the clogging.
