Why Buy A New Diesel Car

If you are planning to buy a new car, consider buying a diesel engine for the car. One of the advantages of buying a diesel engine is that the fuel is cheaper as compared to that of gasoline. The price of one gallon of gasoline might be only slightly higher than that of diesel still these cars are a good bet. They are not only cheaper, but also are more efficient as compared to the gas engine. They are easy to operate as well as maintain.

All automobile companies started manufacturing diesel automatic cars in the year 1970′s. Except for Mercedes and a few other automobile manufactures who had diesel heritage, all other American companies converted gasoline engines to diesel ones to mark their start in this field. Since the gas engine could not bear the high combustion pressure, problems occurred in engine which leads to cracking of blocks and head gaskets. It was apparent that the diesel cars required a newly designed engine. The problems faced by people in the beginning made them leery about diesel cars; however, that was wrong as they have shown both their efficiency and longevity.

The fuel in diesel cars is ignited using pressure and heat unlike the gasoline ones where the fuel was ignited using a spark plug. This process meant that much more of potential energy will get converted into mechanical energy and the engine will be much cooler as compared to the gasoline engine. More energy gets transferred to the tires of the car thereby making it travel greater distances i.e better mileage (as less energy is spent as heat).

If you are planning to buy a new car, consider buying one with diesel engine. The new designed engines give no trouble and also offer good mileage.
