So you may be in recovery yourself from addiction, or you just want to work in the recovery field. It is always an adventure and it is always a challenge to do so, but there are definitely many positions out there for people working in recovery. In fact, the U.S. government recently said that they needed over 800 more addiction counselor jobs to be filled in the United States Army alone, just to keep up with demand. So there is definitely real potential and real need out there.
In addition, there are hundreds of treatment centers around the world that are Christian based. There is nothing necessarily good or bad, or right or wrong about a religious treatment center. They can be just as effective in some cases as traditional rehabs can be. On the other hand, they also have a similar rate of failure when it comes to recovery, and that is not always so good. In fact, most who attend any treatment center will not stay clean and sober for more than the first year, with well over half of a given sample relapsing long before then. But yet there is still hope, and anyone who is trying to get clean and sober should definitely still seek help.
The key to doing well at a christian alcohol treatment center is to stay open minded and be willing to take real action. If they make suggestions and you are not willing to follow through with them, then obviously this is not the right path for you in recovery, and you should find some other means of staying sober. But some people are surprised by the message that they find in a rehab like this, and something clicks inside for them at a time when they most need the help and direction in their life.
